Benefits of Vacuum Sealing

Vacuum sealing bags come with countless benefits. Below are some of those benefits:

  • Preserves food for a long time
  • Helps with storage space saving
  • Cuts down on food wastage
  • Ensures food flavor and freshness is maintained
  • Aids in cooling sous vide
  • Keeps food safe against contaminants and moisture
  • Preserves items that are not edible.

Step-by-step Vacuum Sealing Bags

Below are the different ways of how to vacuum seal bags.

· External Vacuum Sealers

Step 1 – Choose and Cut Bags to Ideal Sizes

Here, the bag type to use is decided on and cut to its ideal size. Vacuum sealer bags or rolls are ideal options for external vacuum sealing machine use.

Step 2 – Bag Filling

Put in the bag items or food you wish to have sealed. Do your best to ensure the space at the top is enough to make the vacuum sealer machine works well.

Step 3 – Even Contents up

Evenly spread the contents in the bag to prevent punctures if the items have sharp sides or edges.

Step 4 – Sealer Lid Opening

Raise the lid of the external vacuum sealing machine to check its sealing area.

Step 5 – Insert Bag

Place the end of the open bag across the sealing area. Ensure the bottom of the bag is straight and flat. This will give it a seal that is even.

Step 6 – Shut Lid

With the bag placed on the sealing area, shut the lid. Different models come with different mechanisms where lid locking is concerned. So, have this in mind.

Step 7 – Begin the Sealing Process

Hit the start button or press the lever to start the vacuum sealing machine. The machine, when turned on, will take all the air out of the inserted bag.

Step 8 – Sealing Bags

The sealing strip becomes hot and then melts the bag. This creates a seal that is airtight. At this stage, the different operation types come into play.

Automatic – These operation types move directly to the stage of sealing after the bag has been vacuumed.

Manual – This type will require that a specific button be pressed for sealing after vacuuming is done before sealing is initiated.

Step 9 – Cooling Down

After the seal is created, it needs to be allowed to cool down. As it cools down, it hardens, which makes the seal more secure.

Step 10 – Lid Release

With the seal created in step 9 completed, lift the lid up and take out the sealed bag.

Step 11 – Inspection

Check to ensure the seal is as tight as it needs to be, and also look out for gaps or wrinkles.

Step 12 – Storage

Vacuum-sealed bag with its contents can be stored to meet your specific needs.

· Chamber Vacuum Sealers

Step 1 – Prepare

Have items or food that you want to seal arranged in the vacuum sealing bags.

Step 2 – Position bag

Insert the bag with its open end into the sealing area or chamber of the machine.

Step 3 – Close the lid

As the bag is well positioned, shut the lid of the sealing chamber. For some models, there are locking features to ensure the lid, when closed, has a strong seal.

Step 4 – Vacuuming Starts

Activate the process of vacuuming with the vacuum sealer machine controls. The pump in the vacuum will take out all the air from the bag and chamber.

Step 5 – Seal bags

When the air is taken out of the bag, the machine automatically activates the sealing bar for automatic machines, and for manual machines, the activation seal is initiated. With the seal bar activated, it becomes hot, and the open end of the bag is melted to create the seal.

Step 6 – Vacuum release

When the sealing process is done, the chamber goes back to its initial pressure. With this done, the sealed bag stays strong with no air.

Step 7 – Take lid out

When the sealing is done, lift the chamber and take out the bag.

Step 8 – Storing

The bag can now be stored based on its contents.

· Handheld Vacuum Sealers

Step 1 – Pick Out the Bag

It is important for the ideal vacuum sealer bag to be chosen that can be used by a handheld sealer. The types for handheld sealing machines mostly come with unique zippers and valves.

Step 2 – Arrange Items or Food

Place items into the bag and make sure the top has a lot of space to make sealing easier.

Step 3 – Close Bag Completely

With zipper vacuum bag types, make sure it is well secured to ensure air doesn’t enter.

Step 4 – Handheld Sealer Positioning

Position the handheld vacuum sealing machine’s nozzle over the bag’s valve. Make sure the fit between the valve and nozzle is tight to achieve the right seal.

Step 5 – Vacuum Seal

Press the button for activation to turn the vacuum sealer on. As sealing is being done, air is removed and that is why sealers must be held well.

Step 6 – Monitoring

As the air is taken out by the vacuum sealer, the bag contracts. Monitor the process and make sure everything is going well.

Step 7 – Turn Sealer Off

When the sealing is done, turn it off.

Step 8 – Inspection

Check the sealed bag to make sure the seal was done well. If you realize some air was remained, have the process repeated.

Step 9 – Storing

Ensure the bag is stored as required based on contents within.

Vacuum sealing machine working processes are generally simple. However, choosing the ideal one to meet your needs is best. Make the right decision now.
